Area 6 – Marine Terrace, Rep, Council Vice Chair
Although born in Olympia, Washington, California is the state I’ve lived in longest. My father was career military and we lived in several states as well as overseas. I completed high school in northern California and attended San Jose State. Schooling and training is in business and project management. I worked in those disciplines originally with General Electric Nuclear Energy in Sunnyvale, then for FMC Defense Systems in San Jose.
LIVING ON THE NORTH COAST
Deciding that I’d had enough of the corporate existence, my already retired husband and I chose to relocate to Cambria in 1997, from the San Jose suburb of Willow Glen. During my time in Cambria, I’ve been an Elephant Seal docent and participated on the board of Allied Arts in the late 1990s. With the available time, a passion for watercolor painting arose, which I indulge in as often as possible. The beauty of our surroundings and sound of the ocean make every day fulfilling.
15 MINUTES OF FAME
My single claim to fame is having paved streets in the alphabet streets of Marine Terrace. It took my husband and me a few months of landowner correspondence, coordination and interface with the county, but eventually, success in a special election brought paved streets.
WHY ARE YOU VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE ON THE NCAC?
I wanted to become more directly involved with the mechanisms of how Cambria goes about doing its business. The NCAC is a great way to obtain a better understanding of how the community views and creates itself.
