BACKGROUND

I am originally from a small town in Southern Idaho. I moved to Irvine in 1985 after having graduated from West Point, serving in the Army, and then living in Alaska for about 4 years. My wife, Karen, and I moved to Cambria in November of 2016, looking for a slower pace, less traffic, less crowding, and to be closer to nature.

I have been a real estate appraiser for 40 years, the first 20 years completing commercial appraisals in all Western states including Alaska and Hawaii. The last 20 years have been mostly completing and reviewing residential appraisal reports from all over the USA both individually and as Chief Appraiser for a number of financial institutions.

I have enjoyed my volunteer life as a Cubmaster, Scoutmaster, serving on the board of directors for AYSO soccer, Irvine Pony baseball, the Irvine hockey club, teaching basic skills to  adult leaders and scouts, teaching appraisal courses for a national company, and serving as a resource between West Point and prospective cadets.

LIVING ON THE NORTH COAST

I continue to consult for various entities on appraisal related issues and enjoy seeing the night stars like I did as a kid growing up in rural Idaho.

15 MINUTES OF FAME

Before leaving the service, I was a basic training company commander and my company was selected for a visit by the Secretary of the Army, one of three on the army post.

WHY ARE YOU VOLUNTEERING TO SERVE ON THE NCAC?

I enjoying meeting my neighbors, discussing the issues, and helping make the tough decisions about the future of our community.
